Danish firm, Third Nature, have developed new perforated paving slabs with holes allowing rainwater to be channelled to surrounding plants, with excess water stored until it evaporates. The tiles are currently being tested on a street in Copenhagen. With more rain expected in Denmark as the climate changes, the idea is to cut the amount of water going into sewers, reducing time and money spent needing to repair and expand wastewater facilities. Third Nature say the tiles can redirect around...

Architects Flanagan Lawrence have created a design concept for an aquaponics farm that fits to the side of south facing shed walls. The farm uses the excess heat from the building to power the system, making it completely off grid. As the water required for the system can be recirculated, it is vastly more efficient way of using water to create fresh produce.
